Clearly there are lots of questions about sex-linked chickens on this thread. Please bear with me- I've searched those threads and haven't found exactly the answer I'm looking for.
My mom just gave me hatching eggs from her chickens, which are red sex-linked hens with white flecks in their feathers. When she got her chickens, they were labelled as all sex-linked red hens. But one of them grew into a beautiful red rooster. I have the eggs from that roo x those sex linked hens. My question is this: Can I count on being able to separate hens from roos in my chicks based on feather color or white flecking?
I know the info above is spotty and not very scientific, but it's the best I've got. Any thoughts?
