Hatching eggs in a carton questions

let me say first that the chicks will not get burned from the heating element, if you are talking about a LG or Hova..

what is to keep you from setting the eggs on their sides in a regular egg carton?? I have had HUNDREDS of eggs hatch standing on end , with pointy end down with no problem orientating. I would submit, that taking them from the standing on end position and layng them on their sides would cause more disorientation,(not that it does), just saying....I have done it this way also..with no problem....

and those chicks have no problem getting out of the shells.. at birth a chick's equilibrium is not fully developed and that is why they look like they are struggling..
