This is my first time attempting to hatch eggs! I have frizzle bantams. I have two broody hens that we were going to try to use for hatching them. Does anyone have experinece with using broody hens? Do I have to add a heating lamp also, and what about humitity. One more thing is how long do they take to hatch? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

R u incubating chicken eggs? 21 days if so..No heat lamp! The chicken add the humidity themselves..

I use broody's every yr.. it is great!

You are lucky to have a broody hen. Now you just let nature take it's course. So much easier than incubating...no turning etc. And the hen will protect them after they hatch as well...just put my eggs in the bator. Going out of town next week...luckily I have a very tolerant husband. ;). Who will take over while I am gone....wish I had a broody hen right about now...happy hatching...

Thanks we have two and they both share a nest even though there is another one I put eggs in! It's so funny though they are always stealing eggs from under each other :) lol
