Hi Everyone,
I am at the moment incubating 3 Embden goose eggs, we are at day 21 and all seems to be going well we lost one egg at day 16 due to the fact i was told the embryo had stopped growing by my friend from america who raises ducks but now she has gone back home i have no one to ask when im panicing over my little chucks can anyone please tell me at what dates you are meant to candle the eggs in the last few weeks?
do i stop turning on the 26 or the 27 day?
i have been keeping the humidity stable at 60% do i need to increase it in the last week or leave it the same?
Im using a forced air incubator and i also have 4 silkie eggs in there too will i have to seperate them to hatch?
what am i looking for with the candling now as one of the eggs seems further developed than the other 2 and moves around the egg when candling so i no it as not stuck to the shell but is it common for one egg to speed up or be futher forward when they seem to have been developing at the same rate until now?
sorry about all the qeustions but i really do want to get it right and im a bit of a prefectionist if anyone can answer any of my qeustions all welcome and photo's and diagrams much appriciated:D

I asked these same questions a day or so ago... the answers I got were... stop turning on day 25... raise the humidity to about 85 at that time and do keep spraying them even after you stop turning. That is what I am going with. I am going to lockdown tonight when I get off work. I have 5 embden/toulouse mixes and one pure toulouse.

Thanks new duckie will do as you say im not going lockdown till 4/13 but i think we will be ok fingers crossed but reading diffrent posts on here i see that lots of people's first hatch's dont work out and even people with loads os experience get it wrong so i just gotta pray

mine works good luck to you the eggs i have are meant to be pure embden or so i was told

I had one egg pip last year on day 25, I would stop turning them on day 24 just to be safe. It won't hurt them to not be turned this late in the game, that is most necessary in the first week or so when the embryo is to small to move around very well.

I have cheeping in the eggs under the goose. Thought they had hatched with all the noise they were making. I lifted her to see and still eggs, but they are really rolling around. Bumping eggs. The ones in the incubator should be one day ahead and they are doing.... nothing.. Starting to worry a bit, but not alot yet. Bator due on Sat and goose on Sunday, but I really think hers will hatch before that.

I had.. as of last night.. 4 hatched under the goose and 5 in the bator hatched. One more egg in each place to go. all four under the mama look really good. the ones in the bator are sort of pitiful. Moved them to the brooder this morning before leaving for work. They couldnt dry good in the humid incubator. One I left in the bator.. it did not look good at all. will run home at luch to check things out.

congrats newduckie
