I have a few coturnux eggs, they are due to hatch today, one started last night, a little circular crack appeared, but nothing's happened since. Did it die? Or does it just wait before it cuts around the shell?

It can take up to 30 hours for a chick to hatch from the point it pips the shell. Don't open the door, if it seems like it needs help, don't help it. Darwin will do the best job deciding which chicks are actually fit for the world. After they hatch leave them in the incubator for at least 12 hours but they can stay as long as 24 hours. That lets all the chicks that would hatch have a chance to. If you open the door when eggs have pips (cracks) the inner membrane on the eggs will stick to the chicks and they won't be able to hatch.
