hatching experiment home made

randerson remember I hatched these on Mar.21

These on mar. 23,

and the below egg on mar. 25

I got the eggs on diff days but put them all in same incubator.
I did have to take out a couple that were not fertile but they did a good job hatching.

Such pretty chicks! Checked eggs... seven eggs were either duds or quiters. that was birth 20 21 and 24. There was one 20 left it looks like a quiter but I can swear I see other veins.. will the red ring only appear on dud? I went and looked at 25th eggs early and I seen the right size shape like a C. I see veins barely and the air sack looks like about the right size. Three of those look good. So I added one of yesterdays and one today to make up the few duds that didnt make it. My EE was the one I wanted the eggs from the most but hers are the quitters. That may be more my fualt since doing the experiment has cropped up more temperature problems. I dont have a way to calibrate thermometers so ill just have to pick one and hope its correct

Here they are, 4 chiltern whites, one mallard and one Rouen I think, I'm not sure. They were swimming in the paddling pool, they were 2 weeks old, not day olds.

This is the Gray egg chick I was waiting to hatch. day 20 for this chick. The egg in upper part of the pic(Blue Isbar/Blue Andelusian) I put in with this chick it will probably hatch tomorrow it is a bigger egg.

Below is her shell. white inner lining.

this is the mom it is her first chick.

The dad is a blue Isbar/americuana.

up date 2nd one hatched. the dark one is 1/2 sis to the gray egg chick.

I have a staggered hatch, and slipped eggs in when I had room. so just 2 this time, one on the 6th then a dozen or more on the 13th. here is another pic of the 2 that just hatched, the black has lightened in color.

Very nice, I'm putting in my 8 geese eggs tomorrow in to an incubator, and into a different incubator I'll put in 14 hen Eggs with the one duck egg that is fertile out of 5 that has been in for a week, so they will hatch on the 22nd, and the geese will hatch around the 30 :) I'm excited I've never hatched geese before :D

I thought I would give you goose language pointers, if you go "honka,Honka!" really loud that is their warning call, you don't want to repeat that to them, if you want one on one with a goose you say "w-heeee.w-heeee" low and make your voice vibrate that is how they talk to each other. and take your hand and make it bob up and down that is a greeting.
