Happy to hear everyone is in the "hatching" mode!! I have just received 2 dozen fertilized eggs, I have no incubator, :/has anyone had any success with just placing the eggs in the nest boxes with a couple of hens that are already "sitting"? I would welcome any and all info on this subject, I'm hoping to be able to do this!!!!

do a search on here for Broody hatching. People do it all the time. I've never been lucky enough to have a good broody that saw the process all the way through. I don't think one hen can sit on 2dz eggs so I hope you have more than one broody.

Make sure she has food and water near her so she doesn't have to leave the eggs long to eat and drink. If possible, isolate her from the rest of the chickens so they don't peck at her. Make sure she is at a level that the chicks won't fall out of the next and get hurt once they do hatch.

Good luck!
