So my last batch was 7 eggs, candle them and then put them in the new home made cooler hatcher. 3 Hatched Fine, they all piped, but after 48 hours 4 were not progressing and you could here the chirping. So I tried helping one out and it was already dead is shell, Fully grown just did not finish coming out, that morning he was fine but that evening gone. The next two I helped was covered in this clear gooey stuff and they smelled, but lived and are fine. The last one was in that same sort of goo but he still have blood vessels that had not receded. I am trying to 1, learn when to intervene and when not to, like the one that died during the day because I was waiting (guess I waited too long) 2 I want to learn what to do better next time. We had to take a wash cloth and wrap them to get the gooey stuff, membrane and shell to com off because if was just totally stuck to the inter-membrane due to the gooey stuff. The humidity was 65-70%. I have two 80 min fans and the temp was 98-99 degrees. I did not open the container until I felt I needed to intervene.
My question is what is and what causes the gooey stuff? The 3 goslings that hatched did not have any of those issues.
Do I need less humidity or more for the hatching phase?
