Hi everyone ā˜ŗļø
my name is Lauren and I’ve got some guinea fowl eggs in the incubator. Today is day 27 and there’s not much happening! I’m a bit worried as yesterday was day 26 and there was movement from a few of the eggs and that seems to have decreased greatly. Last night we took out the automatic egg mover (very quickly) and put everything back into lockdown. We have only opened the incubator once throughout the incubation period to candle, nothing seemed off or looked infertile. There have been no smells but lots of decreased movement and I’m worried could I have missed pipping yesterday when there were a few active ones? (The eggs were kept for about a week after lay before put in the incubator)

Pips can be hard to see in guinea eggs - like a small crack... Egg movement was probably the keet getting into position but you may not see much once they are in position. It all takes awhile and you aren’t at 28 days yet. You can candle to see if there are internal pips, but you risk drying out membranes... It’s so hard to wait!

Just be patient - once they start the process they hatch very quickly.

I know its hard, but stay away and go for a nice walk, bake some pastry or prepare a wonderful meal for your family... whatever it takes to keep you busy and away from the brooder šŸ˜‰

Best of luck and can’t wait to see them!
im very eager to hatch some myself, but need my boys to get their act together and give me some fertile eggs! My girls are great layers but must hate their men. Haha.
Ive penned them up for a few days in hopes that It will increase my chances for fertile eggs.
