Hatching Help

Alright, I have been doing this for a few years now, but I came across a weird hatch of an egg this evening, and I don't know how to handle it, so here goes. My husband decided he wanted to hatch some leghorn chickens. So we did! Well tomorrow is the hatch date, but they have all been pipping today. One of them pop off the top of the egg and since then he or she, is half out of the egg, the bottom still attached, and just laying there. Yes, he is breathing and looks like he is asleep! However, he has this sticky almost clear, liquidy substance all over him and he is starting to stick to the bottom of the incubator, thats how sticky it is. Never seen that before. I hope I am explaining this correctly. Anyway, what should I do? Anything? Or just wait until morning and see what happens. If so, won't he get stuck to the bator? That stuff is like crazy glue? Thanks

Hey Turtle, thanks! That I did. Now...this morning I can see his "attachment" clearer. It looks like what I would call a placenta (about the size of a quarter little bigger) still attached to him as well? It is a sorta dark red, like a burgundy color. It also looks like the rest of the clear, yellowy muck broke, sorta like when you put an egg in the pan sunny side up and it breaks? He seems fine other than he looks "Preemie" and is still attached to whatever? The rest of the shell behind him broke so it's really not on the attachment anymore. (Sorry for the egg analogy but thats the only way I could explain it.

It sounds like he hadn't absorbed all of the yolk yet and it broke during hatch.

I am guessing he will probably be a weaker chick, at least for a while, if he makes it. Might want to make sure he gets food and water sooner rather than later since he didn't get all of his yolk. Let me know how he's doing! I always like to hear how the odd ones turn out!

Just a note to let you all know that the chick didn't make it! I'm not sure what was going on, just know I never seen that before. It was sure a new one on me! Thanks to everyone for your help. I truly do appreciate it.
