This is my first time posting, but I have used this forum many times a great resource.

I typically hatch our ducks out with the Brinsea Advance with no problems. I have only had to assist maybe twice and it was obvious. This time I used my new incubator, from incubator warehouse.com

The first two to three days the incubator was wonderful, temps, turning, etc. After about day 7 I noticed hm.mmmm I don't think I have heard the eggs turning and then started to monitor. Tested it and it wasn't turning. Trouble shooted and from then on check it daily to ensure it was turning etc.

I candled eggs as I went and confirmed all was well. Babies are great and today we are on day 27 and my problem/concern is I have had quite a few of them pip. They pipped two days ago. This happened with the Brinsea and no problems. They either hatched or you could see them legitimately making an effort to get out.

As of right now I have at least three that have been pipped for 48 hours. I can see the beek but no other progression. They are alive right now but it seems like they are starting to give up or struggling. They chirp and you can see their beek trembling like it was just stuck and out of energy.

With one I have helped it a bit to get the harder part of the shell away to make it easier to wiggle out and made sure humidity is up and have made sure to mist but just doesn't seem to be trying.

Any advice. I don't want to lose these babies but don't want to do more harm. I did have one that I confirmed passed. It hadn't pipped and didn't roll or rock at all. I did open it just to confirm. Look very healthy but just like it was an extra thick inside and very very elastic. Could this be from the not rolling?

What tells the duckling when to absorb the yolk or can it be out of the shell and continue.

Thank in advance for your help and listening to the many questions. Hopefully one day I will be able to provide some useful input here. :)

maybe this will help until some of our experienced hatchers come in, I let my ducks/chickens take care of any hatching so really can't help much https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...days-ago-but-no-external-pip-yet#post_8686492

Thank you. I actually read through that one yesterday in preparation for no one breaking free today. Some of the others ones that have internally pipped I am keeping an eye on. The little guys who have the external pip or the ones that have me on alert. Its amazing how much these little feather guys can have you wrapped around their webbed feet even before they are hatched.

Any input would be appreciated. :)

Have you read this one https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed

as they begin to work their way out of the egg, one reason you don't want to help too soon, they are also absorbing the yolk so if you help too soon they won't have absorbed the yolk. I'd PM Lacrystol she is our resident hatcher and very knowledgeable about how to help and when to help. .
