hatching! How can I help them? so many questions

    I have two broody chickens sitting on a bunch of eggs and they are starting to hatch. One hatched last night but when I picked up momma to look under her the chick was dead.. The other mom was off of her eggs and they were cold!
    Should I put a light in the nest box to keep them warm? Will the mom take care of them after they hatch? Did she smother the one that was dead??
