Hatching incubator help please

Maybe I should of left in cup

I am sorry...but leaving him in the cup probably would not have helped.
He just wasn't meant to be.

Looks like there is some stuff on his lower belly....I am going to take a wild guess and say that he might have hatched with a yolk sac infection and there is nothing you could have done to save him.

ALSO...98 is way too hot for a brooder.
Start at 90 in the future...and lower the temp each day.

I agree. I don't think they were meant to be. A friend in Idaho that flew down & picked up a shi tzu (I got off Craigs list) and bought it a seat and flew home the same day is sending me a temp/hum regulated incubator! And I am swapping the tiny one for a bigger one to hatch in. I swapped heat sources..my hub made a light with a dimmer switch. It's gonna work out and I will get a baby Kiki! Do you think my brown duck may make a white baby? My white duck made 7. He was half white/half brown..with yellow legs and one brown toe!

Go to Walmart and get a couple of cheap fish tank thermometers and a humidity gauge like this and calibrate them all. (You can NOT trust thermometers or humidity gauges that come with incubators) You need a couple to make sure the temperature is the same throughout the whole bator and to be able to tell where the hot and cool spots are.

Think about getting one of these:
(I have one and I currently use it for my brooder but I did use it for my incubator for a little while) You simply plugged the light/heat source in to it and it turns the light off/on when it gets to a set temperature.

I have 2 of these black ones and one of the glass ones. I been staring at my brooder and it stays at 95.

Can I stand my eggs on the point in the hatcher or should they lay on side?

Both my thermometers read the same. I cannot test because it is not submersible. I am doing the salt test now to be safe.

Perfect...make sure the salt slurry dish is not touching the humidity gauge device in the zip lock bag.

No...it is better to leave them on their side to hatch.

95 it too hot for a brooder too.
Get it down to 90.
