He started pipping externally yesterday morning. He's chirping and moving. The other eggs havent pipped, day 30, but I see small bruising spot on eggs. Mostly at bottom. I put them all in incubator same time with pointy side down. Stopped egg Turner at day 25 and placed them pointy side down. Can you help and tell me if this guy looks good and leave him alone and how long after bruising appears do they pip. Thanks in advance for your help.

He looks good to me. Any other pips? Are the others have any movement? Day 30 is overdue
I see bruising on several eggs but no pipping. Thank you, I was worried about the one already pipped. I've hatched chickens before when mother hen abandoned the nest after 2wks with home made incubator. They all hatched no issues. But ducks are a different story lol

I’m my experience a bruise is the baby trying but not always able to break the shell
When I see a bruise I make a safety hole on the centre of it and come back to it 24 hours later
The first time I hatched I saw a bruise and didn’t do anything and that baby died of no oxygen
Yoy said the eggs are laying pointy end down to hatch ?
They should be laying on the side with the big dip of the air cell facing up
Can you take pics of the the bruises
For the one that’s trying if baby hadn’t made progress in 24 hours from external pip if it was first in the air cell before the pip then I would start to assist
If baby made external pip missing the air cell you need to add 24 hours to that time as he skipped a step
So 48 hours you would start to help

The one that pipped did miss the air sac. I stupidity listened to a so called expert. Told me keep them up at all times, don't wash them etc. So eggs are dirty which i learnt from this site is a breeding ground for bacteria. Anyway, the other ones very light bruising. I'll take pic soon as i can. Having issues with my phone and I can't download it. I will soon. Thanks. I'll also update you soon. Thanks again

Ok the one that missed the air cell
I wouldn’t try helping that baby till it’s closer to 48 hours
My little one took 52 hours and she still had a small yolk that took another 2 hours. Don’t rush this baby out of the shell
Yoy can move the membrane that hanging over its beak and take a dry q tip and gently clean his beak from any egg goo
Other then that don’t take anymore shell off
Baby needs time to absorb
Also I would lay the eggs down on the side with the largest dip of air cell facing up or the bruising facing up
If these babies are trying to get out and bruise the egg they will run out of air quickly
Take a tac and gently press while rubbing back in forth over the bruise to soften the shell till you can poke a hole through. Don’t make it big as you don’t want to hot veins just a small hole no bigger then a sharpened pencil end
Then leave them be for 24 hours
After that yoy may find a bigger bruise or a new bruise and make the home there a bit bigger like a dime size to let the beak take more air but not hatch the baby. It will be another 24-36 hours for that baby ti be ready
Patience is the biggest thing
If you can take the bator in the bathroom and run the hot water in the shower for a few mins before opening the bator this will keep the heat and hunidy up so it Doesn’t hurt the babies
If this isn’t a possibility then make sure the room is warm and yoy have a bottle of Luke warm water to mist in the bator when you open it to keep the humidity up
Good luck and keep us posted

Sorry

Sorry for late reply. Having some problems with my phone. After checking all the other eggs,( 5 eggs) 4 never finished developing and 1 died almost fully developed. The one that was pipping broke though last night but was having problems so we had to help it. We chipped away at the egg so slow. It was shrink wrapped. Had a lot of stuff stuck to him. We got most off and put him in in warm brooder to let him dry. This morning he was moving and chirping but I realized he was stuck to the rag under him. So we got warm wet rag and got him unstuck. We again got as much off with out pulling it off. Still some stuck. He can't move his 1 wing. I was told get dawn detergent and soak a sponge in soapy water and it'll come off. Going to store now to get some. I'll try post a pic. He seems ok besides that but I don't know. I think this incubator is messed up. It's new but we realized last night the temperature thing didn't change after opening the incubator. We kept it set at 99.5. we put another temp gauge in there and it was 10 degrees off, so it was actually 89.5. it's new incubator so i didn't think anything would be wrong with it. I should of double checked it no matter what. Thank you again for all your help

Just little update. He's moving a lot but not able to stand up. Partly due to his wing being bond to him. He was drying up so we had to get him out. His wing has dried blood and causing it to stick to him. We keep wiping it with Luke warm water so it's slowly coming off. I pray he'll be ok. Here's a pic, doesn't show the wing with dried blood, everytime I move him he flips back over. He's moving and kicking a lot.
