Hatching journey - my silkie babies

So today is day 21 for my 3 remaining silkie eggs. Two hatched out in the early hours, one is doing fine and bashing about in the incubator :jumpy but sadly the other has some sort of hernia and twisted feet. It’s alive and under a heat lamp with splints and a plaster but I’m not hopeful :(

I might post a separate thread regarding the poorly one for advice on what might have gone wrong at some point.

The third egg was seen rocking on day 18 but no movement seen since so a bit worried about that one as well.

I’ve got some bantam Brahma that are on their day 18 today so hopefully my little silkie won’t be on it’s own.

I think the dry ish hatch has been better for me since the two that did hatch didn’t have humidity problems so that’s one thing figured out, I’m just sad about the poorly chick and would like to know what went wrong this time.

Will post picks of the healthy chick soon, can’t get any good shots in the incubator at the moment
Sorry to hear about your little guy. Hopefully he/she pulls through! Maybe the last one is just a late starter. :) Fingers crossed!

Can you share eggtopsy pics? I am still too nervous to do one but I am very interested in looking at pics. How do you build yourself up for that? I'd love to learn more and know what to look for #newbie

Sorry to hear about fertility issues.

I put 12 in and still have 11 going strong. If only I had room for 11. I still may not get a very good hatch rate, but I have my fingers crossed for them all - I may need a coop extension if they all make it :lau. Nobody is coming to collect them during lockdown for sure :/
Detached aircells, the eggs didn't do well with shipping I think 😕. Now I am on the search for more silkie eggs. If this one survived it will be the only bantam in the pack and I don't want it getting picked on for being the oddball with my Braunleger that are also incubating

Thank you for the pics <3 How easy is it to get silkie eggs where you are?

Mine are on day 19 going into day 20 at about 3pm BST. I am petrified. Saying that, I checked this morning and they are all still alive and the aircell has drawn down - so I think that's positive. I am trying not to go insane in this process.

I'm almost in the exact same situation, day 20 in less than 4 hours. I saw one rocking 10 minutes ago. I'm sooo stressed and excited and trying to control myself at this point, haha !

A couple of mine are rocking too! I am playing chick sounds to them on YouTube to encourage them to internally pip. I am soooo stressed :fl :fl:jumpy🐥

Keep us updated on your hatch!

Good luck with the lockdown! Just try to find something else to do let nature take it’s course. Thoughts and prayers are with you for an excellent hatch!:love
