What an adorable baby! My fingers are crossed for you that it's a hen and you can keep it.
I'm raising an only chick myself, a silkie that's 12 days old, and was the only one to hatch out of 4, but that was my fault. There were temp. spikes with the incubator. I carry him around a lot because he screams if I am out of sight.

Try a feather duster in her cage as a surrogate mother, she can hide in the feathers and they love it.

No, I won't. I had to get rid of my rooster because a neighborhood complained. If I keep another one, I will probably get fined. Not allowed roosters here, sadly >.>

This makes me so mad.

The guy next door worked on a race car in his garage, one the other side is a teenage drummer (lousy too), who plays loud music all night with the windows open. Across the street is the practice house for a really bad heavy metal garage band. The drummer lives there and practices for hours at a time. Two doors down there is a yappy little dog that goes 24/7. Across the creek is a kennel where a dozen dogs howl if a pin drops. Next door to the garage band practice house is a woman who runs a daycare. The kids SCREAM nonstop, all day long (not that I mind the sound of children). My point is, noise is noise, so why is the sound of a rooster crowing any different? Seems like discrimination to me.

Someone should take it to court!

I just discovered my chick a few mins ago... dead. It was lying on its back under the lamp
