Hello all! I was just wondering if anyone else is expecting little fuzzy butts next week? I have 8 Belgian D Uccle Mille Fleur due to hatch on 5/17 and 12 mystery bantam mutts due to hatch on 5/19. I was hoping to find some other people who will be putting themselves through the torture and joy of lock-down and hatch.

Really excited about the mutts! They are a possible mix of Japanese, Frizzle Cochin, Rapanui, D'uccle, Golden Sebright, Old English and Easter Eggers. :D
anyway I would love some hatch buddies or if your not hatching a support group :hugs

I have some mixed eggs under a broody silkie due 5/16. Good luck with your hatch!

Typical hatch is 21 days. Lockdown (Stop turning eggs if using an incubator) usually happens at day 18.

I have 19 mixed heritage turkeys eggs and 16 mixed breed chicken eggs due on the 16 or 17th. And 2 mixed chicken eggs under broody due Friday or Saturday.

Hope things are going good with you guys. YAY for chicken mutts! You all will have to post pictures when they hatch :)

Still holding at 22 eggs total here and getting excited. :pop

I'm getting anxious too the ones under my broody black star/e.e. are due tomorrow and I can't wait. It's my first broody, but part of me wants them to hatch a little late and my incubated ones to be early so I can give her a couple more as my hens got into broody box and broke a 3 as she was kicking their butts out, and 5 weren't fertile so she only has 2 now. I guess I'll have to take what I get though.

My broody is still protecting like a champ..I do have a question though, do you leave your broody in the coop, block them off from the others, or what? I tried moving the nest to a tractor so she could be alone, but my broody wanted nothing with that. I put them back in her box, and she calmed right down. I think the only thing I can do now is block off that section of the coop. How do you guys handle it?

This is my first broody too, but I did some searching on here and decided that I am going to section off a section of the run for a couple weeks until the chicks are aren't so fragile and can run for cover if needed. My birds are rarely in run anyway they always freerange, but better safe than sorry. One of my broodys' eggs is pipping now and I can hear her softly clucking to it. Hope she is a good mom, and i can give her a couple more in a few days.
