Hatching only female chicks?

Ok, apparently if you pick out only rounded topped eggs, and put them in the fridge for 24-72 hours you will only hatch out female chicks.

Has anyone tried this method and have it work?

Or would anybody be willing to try it for me?

It's a myth with several different versions. It doesn't work. If it worked, everyone from hatcheries to backyard breeders would mostly only hatch out pullets. P.s. welcome to BYC!

That's an ancient old wife's tale, the shape of the egg has no bearing on the gender of the chick. Why would it?

I hatched out shipped eggs. in Dec. I got the eggs in Nov. when it was very cold though.
11/14 hatched and were fertile and only 3 roosters. 8 females.

One time I pulled 3 eggs from the fridge when a rooster died. 2 roosters to one female.

I hatched my own eggs. Set eggs on January 19th, they were laid 1-3 days previously. It was super cold here. 20 successfully hatched, looking like only 8 are female.

Round eggs worked for me, I got like three roosters out of 30.
And I think refrigeration works because of the proteins that make male chicks, so I'd try it.
