Hi!
I had 24 Light Brahma eggs shipped to me. We put them all in the incubator after 24 hours of resting. 12 of them just did not ever do anything or quit over time, the other 12 were coming along great. Six of them hatched, the other six did not. We opened the eggs to see what had happened. All six had completely formed chicks, feathered, and ready to hatch, just dead. I'm happy to know that we had 12 good out of 24 (they shipped from NC to WA), but I'm curious what could have happened to the dead chicks. We have hatched our own RIR's with same conditions and had pretty decent hatch rates, and our own Polish eggs as well. Is it common for chicks to just never pip and die? I'm new to this and want to improve any way I can. Oh, we have a Little Giant still air incubator, humidity is good, and temp is kept at 99.5. Thanks so much.
