Hi,
I'm new to the site. I am attempting to hatch coturnix quail. I read (too late) that egg should be left sitting without turning at room temperature for 8 to 36 hours. I have been putting eggs directly into the incubator and turning them the following morning. My quail lat at night. What are the chances that any of these eggs will hatch?

I did the same thing, when I got it from the breeder, I put the eggs in the incubator after about an hour... I had a very low hatch rate though, only 7 alive out of 27. 1 died after hatch, I think 4 died in the shell and the others I don't think were even fertile, they were just egg yolks (2 were really gross bluish greenish goo after eggtopsy)

Eeeew! not good news. But thanks for the info. So what would be your recommendation for how long to wait before putting them in?
