Hello folks!
I’m on my first batch of runner ducks ever, in a homemade incubator. One of the babies just pipped and is making their way to the real world! I have a total of seven babies to hatch, stay tuned for updates as they come into the world!!
I’m so excited, I just had to share! I’ll add pics/videos if several people are interested.

Hey guys! At about 2:30 this afternoon the first baby pipped, followed closely by a second. They’re peeping and tapping on the shell.

Hey guys! Heading down to check and see if there’s an external pip!
Also question.
At what point is it important not to open the incubator?

Here’s a pic of the incubator I built and the inside view. There are in fact 7 eggs; you just can’t see past the light. Didn’t want to open it. No external pips yet, but that’s ok, it hasn’t been over 24 hrs. Peeping loudly!
Guys is it dangerous if I take out the eggs I don’t know have pipped or not to see if they have by candling? I always hear opening the incubator is bad but I feel like it’s needed!

If you feel it is needed then open it up, I do it all the time during lockdown just make sure you get the humidity back up to where it was.

Ok thanks! Usually there isn’t a fluctuation when I open it for whatever reason. It’s in the basement maybe that’s why.
