I was told that hatching Serama, you have a better hatch when they're laid on their side and hand turned. I haven't found anything yet to back this up but wanted to check and see. This is my first time with seramas, I'd rather use the auto turner but if I get a better hatch with hand turning I'll do it

I'm probably not a good one to reply about this, but I just tried hatching some Seramas in a Hovabator with turner. It was the first time I used one. I have a homemade incubator but it was full at the time. I had 12 Serama eggs, 6 showed development. None hatched.

I have never hatched my Serama eggs with a tuner, as I don't have one! Always have layed them on their side and turned three times a day. I get very nearly 100% hatches with my own Serama eggs. Maybe 1 out of 40 eggs doesn't hatch. I just recently switched to a Genesis 1588 in the past 2 weeks. Been hatching eggs for two years in a basic Little Giant with no fan and no turner and even then got near 100% hatch.
