I have just recieved my first set of shipped eggs. I understand that they should set still for some time before placing them in an incubator. My question is how long? I have had really good luck hatching eggs that I have gathered from my own hens. Matter of fact i just completed 84 eggs in two incubators and 82 hatched. I was surprised as this is the third time almost all have hatched. Earlier in the spring I had 36 or 36 hatch in two different incubators in two different schools. The kids really enjoyed it. So back to my question... how long to wait before placing my shipped eggs in my incubator. Thanks!

I've let shipped eggs sit for just 6 hours & then I've let them sit for 24 hours (I was getting the setting just right on the bator) & I think the most important is to keep them in a place with a good temp for resting I like it in the basement because it's about 60 degrees down there & then I set them in a carton & use the rocking method to turn them until they go in the bator. Of course I don't start the rocking for several hours & if I'm putting them in in say 6 hours I wouldn't bother at all. I only rock if they'll be sitting for like 24 hours or over night. Good luck with your hatch..
