Hi all! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a hatch. This summer I’ve got 5 white layer duck eggs in the incubator (started with 12, but lost a few at different stages). They’re shipped eggs and even though I let them sit for 24 hours before putting them in, they’ve got some super wonky air sacs. I traced them tonight (day 19). My question is- is there anything I can do this late in the game to get them a little less saddle like? Also- when I go into lockdown how to I know which way to set them? Thanks for your help with this! I’m rusty! LOL

IME if the chick has developed well the saddle shaped air cells aren’t an issue at draw-down. They draw down into normal shapes and the chick pips fine.

The only problem is if it caused an issue with the chick getting into position to hatch.

I keep an eye out for pips outside of the air cell.
