Hatching starting at 18 1/2 days

I have 4 silkie eggs in my Incubator and I'm 12 hours from going on the 3 day lock down. I checked tonight 12 hours away from the lock down and sure enough one of the eggs shows signs of pipping. I have one egg with a tiny little star looking crack. So I went into lock down instantly. Should I have waited to go into lock down, or is this something that anybody else has had this experience.

It happens with bantams sometimes. I’m on day 19 and I’ve got pips. Good luck with your new chicks! I adore silkies!

Bantams usually go into lockdown a lot earlier than standard breeds, did you increase humidity yet?

Yes I just added the water to increase the humidty

I checked the eggs this morning, really no change from last night. The pipping crack still the same size. Although, the egg moves a little bit at times. The movement is so slow you really have to watch the egg to even notice it.
