Hatching today - my first chick is out!

My daughter and I just watched our first BCM egg hatch! Some more are in process! This is our first hatch with our new incubator.

Who else has brand new babies today and what kinds?

I had LOTS to do today, but this seems to trump everything. Funny how something so insignificant can take over for a while!

What are you hatching today?

Chick number 2 just hatched. I find that I pretty much have to walk away because it looks like everything is wrong with them when they first come out the egg. It's all I can do to not panic and pull the lid off.

I woke up to two fluffed out babies in the incubator this morning! One more is really trying to make his way out. They're adorable and I'm thrilled that some hatched on my first try at incubating!

4 days ago my first and only silkie hatched it was a huge learning experience for us but we love our little chickie and my almost 2 year old son surprised me by how excited he was

I'm glad you have the one little guy! It's amazing, isn't it?

So, what did you learn? Did you not have a good hatch? I'm hoping more of mine hatch out, but I've already learned that I did quite a few things wrong this time.

i had never used the incubator and it was given to me w/o instructions and i was told how to use it lol well the instructions were just a little off to say the least i figured out how to keep the humidity right and the temp which was a little bit of a challenege in the begining. I am going to try again and i am setting the incubator up early and making sure all the settings are right before the eggs even get here. Hope i have better luck this time!
