Hatching tomorrow & Broody Hen solution

Tomorrow will be day 21! Hopefully some of the 8 she is sitting on will hatch.

We were unsuccesful in moving her to a dog crate so my husband surprised me with a solution on Saturday....he built me a second coop so I could move the rooster & 6 other hens into the new coop & let her keep the old one all to herself. We also built a ramp in front of her nest box tonight so if a chick does hop out it till not fall the 2 ft to the ground & will be able to get back into the nest.

Just checked on her this morning....no hatches yet.....

First chick has hatched! This chick is huge & feisty. Momma has her hands full keeping this chick under her. THe rooster is a dark brahma & the chick has his furry legs. Mom is either one of the wynadottes or a barred rock. I will have to get a better look later. Momma hen was pretty ticked I even went in her coop this morning. I will leave her be while the other ones hatch.
