I'm all in a panic. It's nearly midnight and I went out to turn the eggs for what should have been the last time before lockdown. I turned them all over only to find one egg has pipped and zipped! It has fair amount of exposed membrane and a tiny slit through the membrane. I see a small amount of movement, but the egg does not wiggle and I hear no chirping. Another egg has also pipped, but it's much much smaller and no zipping.
Everything I read said 28 days for guineas. They weren't supposed to hatch until Tuesday! Now I'm all in a panic because not only did I open the incubator to turn the eggs, I DID TURN THEM! I turned all of them. I didn't see the pipping until I was done because it was the last egg. I didn't know if I should turn them all back to where they were or just have done and leave the incubator shut.

I saw something about using Vaseline to help the exposed membrane retain moisture, but I don't have any. I'm afraid I'm going to be up all night worrying and I have work in the morning!

Mine started hatching this morning..day 25. I was going to lock down today too! I use a Hovobator 1588 and I read that they can hatch early using this incubator, but wow! This is my first time incubating eggs. I would think you should be fine, but hopefully someone else will chime in! Also I dont think you would need to turn them back. Just my thoughts. Good luck!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'm just using an old foam incubator we've had for...oh goodness, I couldn't even tell you. It's hatched so many over the years, but guineas are a first for me.

You can also sparingly use coconut oil, vegetable oil, baby oil, or mineral oil.
You may not even need to do that though. And if you can’t be there to assist further, you’ll have to decide how much you want to intervene at all.
Good luck.

Nothing has changed as of this morning. No more hatching progress. I'm just going to have to go to work, but I'm still worried about that one egg. I hope it doesn't dry out...
