Hatching turkeys. What temps/ humidity do i use.

Thank you for the response. I do know thr blackhead is an issue here, so I will brood them seperate. Would it still be possible to incubate them together, or must I go as far as an additional incubator?

I know turkeys take 28 days to hatch so which days should I candle them?
Like chickens you candle on the 7th day to see if there is any progress would that be like the 10th day for turkeys?

Thanks for starting this thread ;-) We are first timers too!

We placed 8 turkey eggs into the incubator. Trying to candle turkey eggs is no easy task as the shells are so thick.

At day 7 we candled and couldnt tell if any were viable or not. We decided to leave them alone and try again at day 14.

this time we used a very bright lamp and could clearly see that 2 of our eggs were 'clear', and we were super excited to see air spaces in the remaining 6 eggs!
One of the embryos moved for sure!
we will candle again at 21 days to check that all is well. the air space should be larger.

We are incubating at 99.5F and 40% - 25% humidity.
we have plans to increase the humidity to 80% at lock down to help our poults arrive.
