Carefully peel only the shell right to left from where it pipped, where the chick would zip, then moisten the membrane with coconut oil so that it becomes translucent and then look for bright red blood vessels. If they are bright, chick is still absorbing. If they're faded, light pinkish then chick absorbed that point. Wait an hour and then pull more eggshell away, moisten with coconut oil and wait some more.

Right, only the shell. You then need to moisten the membrane with coconut oil

Thanks. I don't think there was anything we could have done for it. It probably died right after in hatched. The EE egg looks like the beak of the chick is in the air sack. Is that normal? It's been like that since last night.

I don't hear or see anything when I'm candling. And their box incubator is in a brooder with chicks so if it's chirping I cant hear it. I'll keep hoping!
