Hatching unit complete with great results * pictures added 9/4/08'

Hatch unit complete and put to good use.
I had about 60 eggs that are not ready to stop being turned in with 25 that were ready. So I made and moved into my new hatching unit the 25 Buttler Quail eggs from Wilds Of Pa.

Here is a few pictures of the unit and what it reaps thus far!

WOW!
That is soo cool.. er umm warm! Couldn't you use it for a incubator as well? It looks really good to me.

I made it for two reasons. One, I had a split hatch coming up. Two, I thought the temps would stay more stable if my incubator/hatcher would stay sealed at the top and have access from the bottom.

And thanks for the looks of it comment, I wanted it to look nice. I guess it has meet most of it's goals.

How much did this cost you exactly?
I am interested in making an incubator, since my broody duck has been through some rough times with her current hatch.

I already have plenty of extra aquariums, and Styrofoam that I can use for covering.

Do you have photos of how this opens from the bottom? What is the wattage for the heat/light?

You have inspired a thought- have my handy other half build an incubator.

I had the tank, glass for the window, and the bulb base( they are about $2.50 or so).

The rest of the wiring and such is just scap goodies I hang onto.

The most important thing is the glue to hold it all together.
I use Elmer's Ultimate, it is a water proof glue. Good stuff!
Be worned it grows as it dries!
