Hatching with 2 broodies

So got a photo of the other one this morning, cold here today and for the rest of the week, so not expecting to see much for a day or so, their food i and water is close.

Also Teila, the time and space required is very low, no more than usual. 20 Lt bucket, splash of acv at the start, put food as required, feed each day from bucket instead of dry feed (dry feed is available all the time), keep water level above feed by inch or two. There is no need for constant stirring, just when you feed scoop from the bottom. Very easy madam :D

Lots of on-line praise for the benefits of fermented feed. All reports were that the chickens luv it. If I had more time and room, it may be worth a try; maybe when I retire (if ever! lol).

I think someone came into my yard today while I was at work and swapped my 5 babies for 5 bigger, fluffier babies lol! Surely they can not have grown that much in 1 day!! They have some really cute feathery things going on on the top of their heads and fluffy bits sticking out everywhere .. they look like they just popped out of a clothes dryer!

I will try and get some more pictures on the weekend.
I found keeping a jar of fermented scratch is a happy medium - it's not messy and easy to keep up, and I just give them a bit each day as a treat.

Yes, please send new pictures! Your fluffies crack me up!

Very sweet story about your pup and the bird, Teila. And, amazing cat/dog shot, Pooman! My dog is a bit much for many critters and people, but I do believe she she means well.

I finally got a shot of my now-4-week-olds on the big-girl roost!:

I'm more confident than ever that they're pullets. No wattles yet, still very horizontally-oriented (though they're a bit more upright here on the roost). Still none of the rooster traits, and plenty of the pullet ones. Here they are exploring the backyard for the first time with the fam (challenging Cilla for her limbo crown, no doubt):

Hhhm, OK, more research/reading about the FF definitely sounds warranted ... always looking for new treats for my girls. I hear that they are 'just chickens' and probably don't care about variety but I think it would get very boring having the same food every day. I shop in 3 separate places to ensure my cats get as much variety as I can give them. It is funny how we all do things differently .. I looked after my neighbour's cat and he has fed Ziggy the same thing morning, lunchtime and dinner for 9 years. I asked him if it was because Ziggy didn't like anything else and he replied "don't know, never tried him on anything else" :)

Gees, am I happy I have not been asked to judge the 'Cutest-photo-posted-on-Team-Broody-Today' competition!

Pooman, your mumma and baby are just gorgeous! Luv the picture of Jess and Lucky .. it is a tough life being a 4 legged furry!! lol

Liz, what can I say? The bubbies on the big-girl roost are just adorable and so worth the wait; I love it!

Response from Cilla regarding Limbo Challenge .. ... "bring it on chicky!!" lol

Pooman's picture reminded me of this one I spotted the other day and thought probably worth sharing! As the majority of Team Broody appear to have cats, I am sure we can all relate

So saw them both out, walking around being chicks, went to feed mum some worms and got chased out lols, she came at me, then turned around and went back and stood on one of them..... Seemed ok afterwards, and I guess they are quite bendy still right now, but the little girl was squawking like crazy. They are back inside with mum now.

Its a little blurry, but if you select it you'll see the bigger pic... Lol little fluffies

So, they are up and eating but mum is still very defensive so I stayed back, they are eating the starter crumbles and some finely chopped silverbeet and cabbage, they both look strong and seem to be responding to the different clucks Dot is making. Its awesome.

OK .. apologies for the wire in the shots but I didn't get home in time to let them out, pick them up and get them to strike a pose etc.

Drum roll .............. Without further delay, direct to your screen from what appears to be a successful circuit in the clothes dryer, Cilla & Co are proud to present 4.5 weeks old Fuzzies!

Bed time is becoming a little squishy...

While not the best picture of the bubbies, excellent photo-bomb by Dusty!

Nice hair do!

Group photo "where's is our dinner!"

Check out the hair do on the one in the middle! lol
