Store them big end up in a cool and humid location. As soon as your incubator gets here get it fired up. what kind is it? Good Luck!My eggs have arrived but my incubator is arriving tomorrow so how do I store them and how long should I leave them at the most

@lizgarf
if you see this know that you will be missed but we all get it and wish you and your litlle farm family the very best!
@Teila
I do think that Tommy...love that name...might still make a marvelous pet for you and not be a nuisance to neighbors. Seriously I imagine the parrots are noisier...I know the feral peas are noisier than the roos around here.

@LeesaMae My broody hatches here have been 5/5 boys and 3/3 boys so I am due! Welcome to the thread btw! your grand daughter is darling
@ItalyChickie
again great pics. Sorry for the clears and for the twins who wanted to hatch them, The do need a break.
SUCCESS!! last night Tom helped me to move Norma and her eggs. I got advice on how to do it better this time and got some of her nesting material first from her original nest to put in there. Then I candled 4 of her eggs...all lively and jumping around...and put them in there then we put here in there then I candled the next 4 and they were also rambunctious little things. Today is day 18 so no more messing with them.
Jamie Lee is full blown broody now so she is complicating my life. She had taken Petunia's nest but I fixed that and gave her some golf balls. I hope now that there are two girls and two nests everyone will stay put.
Hi Liz,Hi Teila, I'm doing well thanks. Chickens are doing find - all broodies are broken and Grace even went back to laying today. Still no eggs from Jan. My cat, Penelope, is enjoying being an only cat, and I can barely sit down without her getting in my lap. She even ventured onto the bed for the first time since after she found her way to my house 8 years ago. You see, Zorro was a very friendly cat to everyone except Penelope, so there is one member of the household who does not appear to be in mourning.
As much as I love everyone on this thread and all the recent arrivals are most welcome and fun to read up on, I'm feeling like I need to take a bit of a break from the thread. I have many good things going on in the non-virtual world, and I'd like to facilitate more of them, so I'm trying to limit my computer time to work, as much as I can make myself. I'm sure I'll check in now and again, but don't concerned if you don't hear from me for awhile. You can always PM me if you need to get in touch.
xo,
Liz
Hi @tommysgirl it is a manual 60egg incubator, and i am going to try and do a hatch with 30 shipped eggs, the eggs are from a columbine hen, a cream legbar, a welsummer, a leghorn, warrens, bluebelles, light sussex, or black rock. these hens are all free ranged with several cockerels - welsummer, silver laced wyandotte, cream legbar and burford brown, so who the father is of each egg is anyone's guess, so i should have a good mix of breed i just hope at least some of them hatch![]()

Oh my goodness, that is so very sweet of you, how can I not respond? All of you are just too kind!Hi Liz,
I do understand where your coming from Liz. Thanks for letting us know.
I am going to say this not to try and change your mind but to let you know how wonderful it has been to share a little of your life. I believe it was you and Teila that started this 2 broody thing didnt you? You two have been such a big part of keeping this going and I am feeling like I will miss a good friend. You have been nothing but encouraging and sooooo supportive of us all here on this broody business! I love how you and Teila take the time to respond to everyone. I cant thank you enough for all the great posts, we went through some good and bad times together and thats what real friends do.
I respect what you are doing but I really wanted to thank you and Teila for every single nice thought and post you placed here. Maybe I am being to sentimental but I couldnt bear to not say how much you mean to us out here.
Take all the time you want but I, like Teila, will be looking forward to the times you do check in with us on this crazy broody thread.
Blessings
Marie
Hi Lesa Mae,Don't know how much longer I can keep this up !!it's like the hatching marathon yes another baby this morning and external pipping on 2 more eggs . So far so good momma is doing great and these little ones are starting to venture out into the big world loving watching them . Have a question maybe someone can answer with the babies hatching one per day is this going to cause a problem with them learning to eat while momma is still tending to her last few eggs ??? These are the first hatch we have so completely blind going into this not sure if now is a good time to start worrying about them not eating yet !!!!![]()
