Okay so today I wasgoing into the coop to change the water and the hen was off the nest.... I looked at the egg, and it was hatching there's a tiny little hole, and his beak is sticking out and:love moving I'm soookk excited but the thing is I'm scared the hen lays on it again and maybe rotates it and flips it to a side like the beak facing to the ground and maybe soffucate? help please! and when its born I'm letting the mom raise it,but how should I feed it? wouldn't it eat the laying pellets? I appreciate all help

You should not let the chick eat laying pellets--switch the mother to starter feed now since they're starting to hatch. How exciting! Chicks can't handle the calcium in layer feed. If you don't have mother hen and chicks segregated and are switching a whole flock to starter feed, you need to offer oyster shells to give the laying hens a calcium supplement. I wouldn't worry about the mother hen hurting the wee one inside the egg. They know what they're doing.
