Hats for chickens?

What a good idea. Our poor Polish pullets keep getting pecked and it's getting to cold to keep them separated in the "chikU". I'll try trimming their feathers around the eyes as well. My pecking situation started when we gave the pullets some plain yogurt and a little bit got on their "pom poms". The other hens naturally helped to clean them up then took it a little too far...

Oh my!! I laughed so hard reading this thread. My white splash polish Phyllis is starting to have vision issues, the others don't pick on her. My roo Lenny is very sweet and gentle and won't tolerate any hen picking/fighting among his ladies.

I often talk of needing a crested coop/run, to which my bf responds, you only have 1 crested chicken honey, I think in my response to him "chicken math babe, you know you want me to be happy, chickens make me happy, more chickens make me more happy, I NEED more CHICKENS! "

As I pretend I don't already have 42 chickens.

that's a good idea

My poor baby polish got almost murdered one day, now it's had to live separate since. I had another baby get sick and the only spot I had for her was with the polish so they keep eachother company. Earlier I tried to make a shell the polish could wear that would protect it's neck (the worst of the injury was to it's neck and head). But she didn't like wearing it and is now probably too big. Next on the agenda is to try and make a helmet. I can only imagine how that's going to go :lau I'd rather weed out the hens that didn't grow up with a polish than get rid of my polish. Its become such a pet!
