I bought 3 shicks yesterday from a farmer. They all seemed fine and looked good but now one is not eating and drinking, it just lays around and gets run over by the others. What to do, I've never had a sick chick before and this is only my second batch of chicks ever. Help please!!!

Edited: Just dicovered the vent blocked. So I cleaned the little guy up, hopefully this helps.

after cleaning the stuck poo, a trick is apply a bit of olive oil to the area surrounding the vent with a q-tip. I found that on here and it's worked well. Sticky butt one day, no more from that chick after the olive oil. Good luck with your chicks.

I gave my little one that was lying on it's side and getting run over some xtra sugar water. I kept dipping my finger in it and letting it drip into it's beak- I did this every couple of hours then "propped" it into the corner of the brooder where it wouldn't get run over by the others and also because it couldn't stand up on its own. By the end of the 2nd day it was running around just like the others and was fine. Good luck with your little one

Thanks guys!!! Will try the olive oil and the sugar water. I gave her some Poly-Vi-Sol and put some in the water, hopefully this helps too.

She's sinking fast, I don't know what else to do, just lying ther barely breathing. Can anyone help please

I woke up this morning to a chick like this. I don't know what happened, it didn't have pasty butt it was just laying there barely moving. I picked it up and it was alive but barely. I tried to give it some water but nothing worked, it died in my hand this morning. I have no idea what happened.

My Polish, New Guy, was like that 2 days ago. All day long I syringe watered her, and fed her yogurt. That night she seemed back to normal. Then yesterday, I checked on her and she was back to being listless. I held her and syringe watered her and tried feeding her yogurt and scrambled eggs, but she wouldn't eat it. That kept up for about 3 hrs, then she died.

Sometimes, there is nothing that you can do.
