This is the coop my DH made for me. We saw one just like this but smaller on a website and I loved it.....he bought the materials and away we went! Not bad for a Professor of Auto Mechanics!

Now we wait for our little guys to arrive....we have a few things to finish. The lid for the nesting boxes needs to be adjusted and attached. DH tried to make it a little too snug! I need to attach hardware cloth in the eaves to keep unwanted visitors out and hang my roosting poles. We were thinking of putting a good quality linoleum on the floor and attaching it around the edges (so bedding doesn't get under it) and bedding over top with shavings. Has anyone else tried this? We are going to leave the eaves open for the summer for ventilation and put covers on all of them for the winter except one in the back and one in the front. Does that sound reasonable? Then we need to build a run. I want to make it about 10' x 10' . I plan on having them free range as much as possible once they are big enough, but if we are away I want them to have lots of space. I also want to plant a vine on the run for shade. They will be in the shade of a huge maple until about 11:30 am.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
