Meant to post about this but it's been a busy few days but I have amazing new!

My hen is healed up and laying eggs normal and being a chicken! Gonna try to re introduce her to the flock soon just been motoring her a bit to make sure everything stayed where it was supposed too.

But I wanted to say thank you so so much with put your help I would have been lost i really appreciate it for helping me through this process! ♥️
:woot
Wonderful!
I'm so glad that she's healed up and laying eggs. You did a great job taking care of her and didn't give up. I do hope she's retaining the tissue well and can go back with her flock soon. I'm sure this will be a relief for you both.

She has a prolapse.

Soaking may be helpful if it doesn't stress her.
Ours also has a prolapse, I have her in a kennel, in our spare bathroom. I'm going to try to soak her shortly to see how she reacts. If it does not stress her, should I try soaking 2-3 times a day? Epsom salt or plain water?

Very important is to get Calcium into her. Give 1 Calcium Citrate+D3 daily.
Will Tums work? It's extra strength (regular tums 500mg) 750mg Calcium Carbonate/ 300mg elemental Ca. I could only get about 1/6 tablet in her beak last night.
Do I need to get Vit D3 in her?

I just noticed for sure, yesterday, that it was a prolapsed vent. First thought it was possibly feces, from roosting on flat board ovn Sat night.
Do make sure she has access to Grit (Crushed Granite).
Should I offer grit, as she will not be free ranging?
Should I offer crushed egg shells until I obtain Oyster Shell? (I'm finding OS, with stuff added)

I have read this thread 3 times (and a few others) and it took @Copper9Miko1, 3 weeks for this to heal.

Might it be a good idea, to have the bathroom light on for only 12 hours a day, possibly slowing the egg laying? I know it won't have an effect right away. She usually lays 4 per week, a Buckeye, just 2 years old.

I will also up her protein.
Thank you for all the assistance you have given to others and now me.

I forgot to post pics, from yesterday afternoon and evening, when confined.

Update: I gave her a warm Epsom bath at noon, no noticeable stress. Of course I was talking to her, holding her gently and feeding her. I had the crusty part slathered with oil prior.

As the water, was too low (my mistake), I kept sloshing the warm water on her to clean and held a wet towel gently on the vent crusty. This lasted for 15+ minutes. I was able to get a little more Tums into her, probably 150mg. You can see how dirty the water is after the bath. Glad I could bathe her and get the feces/stuff off her.

I took her from the bath, wiped her down but did not totally dry her, so I put her on another clean towel. I did not want anything rough on that area. As I was applying more oil, lo and behold, the crusty fell off (pic, on blue towel) The last pic is out of focus (trying to take a pic with one hand) but her vent is clear. Some "stuff" around it.

She is eating and drinking, chatting and defecating. I forgot to check/feel for an egg just in case. Ugh, not thinking. I will keep her confined until she lays an egg to check the vent. We're not out of the woods yet, but better than yesterday.
