I have a chick that i got from farm & Home About 4 weeks ago , two of the 15 were Black Austerlops , One is growing normal as th other breeds, but the other is still the size of 3 chicks i got 2 weeks later.?? They were the same size when i got them, is this a dwarf, or could it be sick ?? It seems to eat and all when i check her. I just hope she isnt ill or have a worm or somthing.Anyone have this happen before ? If so let me Know Please .

My chicks are growing at differant rates as well, But they all seem healthy. So if the growth is the only issue I wouldn't be concerned. It my end up being a Bantam or it might just be a little slower to mature.

I had a barred rock cockerel that came as a big group of packing peanuts in an order of 10 bantam cochins. By a month old, he was the same size as the bantam cochins, and the other BR's were twice his size. I kept him in with the bantams to make sure he got enough to eat, and when I moved them all outside I kept a close eye on him. By the time we butchered the cockerels at 18 weeks, I could no longer tell the runt apart from the rest. He caught right up.

So I bet your chick will be fine. Just keep a close eye on it, if you can, and make sure it's getting enough to eat. Good luck!
