I have a little turkey it's about 8-9 weeks. We took her in because she was abandoned in out yard. It could not walk when we first took it in and has learned to walk. The legs were slightly crooked when it first started to walk and they seemed to have straighten out. Except now it's left leg seems crooked again and has a hard time fully lifting it when walking. It doesn't seem to be discomforted or in any pain and even runs around with our dog and kids just fine. Does anyone know anything I can do to help with this leg. It does look like it could be an issue at the hip, but not sure. This bird is super sweet and has grown on our family so I really would not like to put it down. Thanks for any help. :)

I'd say get some vitamins in her. B-vitamins and a multivitamin are your best friends. You can sprinkle some Brewer's yeast over her food (the kind you find in the pharmacy section) and put Poly-Vi-Sol (no iron added) in her water (usually in the children's section of the pharmacy). Hopefully this will help her get over her issues. :)

After closely and carefully looking at her legs it does seem to be affected at the hip. We will try the vitamins as I am sure it will help put some weight and growth on her. She is just such a happy little bird and so lovey that it would break our hearts to put her down. We had her in a pen inside our house and she managed to figure out how to get out and house trained herself! I have never seen a turkey quiet like this one! She is an indoor bird for now. I worry about putting her out because of her leg. Again thank you for your help :)

Oh weird, I wonder what happened! I hope she pulls through, turkeys are awesome.

Good luck!

Thank you. We do to! This one has certainly been the most interesting turkey we have ever met! She is eating more after we started the vitamins and she seems to be more energetic. Her leg still is crooked, but she seems to be trying to adjust it on her own. She is careful when she walks and sits. She will line her feet up when she sleeps and she lines them with her perch. For now we are just keeping an eye on her and making sure she has everything she needs.
