I had 6 turkey eggs. 3 broke but I threw away one and the other two I put candle wax on.

First question.. What do you use for candling?

Right now I am using a bright flashlight.

Second question. One of the cracked eggs is darker inside then the others and also takes up about almost half of the space. It is actually scary cause when I tilt the egg, the dark blob will be up higher then it will fall down. I feel like it could be rotten but what if its the only good turkey I have of the 5 and im shaking him around?

The eggs have been in the incubator for 8 days..

The other eggs, I see a small dark spot on one side and light on the other side.

I cant see spider veins in any of them. But I am wondering if I just cant see it through the egg because I dont have this candling machine that everyone talks about.

Thanks!!!

Toss that dark egg that floats inside. Growing embryo doesn't float around. People repair small cracks in eggs using candle wax.

I use a flashlight with minimum of 250 lumen and mostly empty or empty toilet paper roll. I can hold the flashlight and roll with one hand and place eggs on top with other. Shine the light into the fat end of egg for better results and 500 lumen flashlights are awesome.

I'll have to look for a better flashlight.
If I can't see veins on the others , how can I tell if they are good or not? I don't want eggs exploding in my incubator:/

It's very rare for an egg to explode but more likely with 28 day turkey and duck eggs. That floating dark mass is a likely candidate but you caught that in plenty of time. Bacteria growing is what that was and would eventually explode.

My husband and I did open it and it was bad like u said.

I have another broken one that I fixed with wax that looks like it could be turning bad as well. I see something inside thudding around just a little but it's not all dark and thudding a lot like this bad one I just had.
