All right, made it to retirement, 5 acres off the road, a house by the creek, and a smallish 0.15ac/6600sq.ft. pond. We tried releasing 30 quail last spring and at least 5 made it until the 1st weekend of dove season when the countryside exploded with shotgun blasts. Since, there has been nary a Bobwhite call. Won't try again next April. Put up several wood duck boxes and last 2 years a couple of woodies visited a week but didn't stay. Still looking for a way to have ducks or some bird wildlife enhancements without getting tied down to animal care. The creek has most common wild critters, including otter. I have 1/2 mile of trail to myself. Hope to learn how to get some near maintenance free birdlife to hang out here on the forum.

Welcome! :D
Lots of duck people here, ... @shawluvsbirds , @WVduckchick , @DuckLady ?

Welcome aboard!

I'll be one to give a warning. I had a duckless pond for a while too. Decided it would be nice to have some ducks. My sister in law had ducks and chickens, so she gave me 3 of her extra drakes....AND 5 roosters.
Fast forward a few years.... I now have probably 150 chickens and am at my lowest duck level, down to 10, but had about 25 at one time. I can't keep an accurate count on chickens because i have so many broody hens!! :barnie

:lau

This site is full of enablers, so roll up your sleeves and jump in! :D
