Crime has gone up here quite a bit.

We live in such a tiny town that nothing much has changed, folks still help each other out. Even if its just helping to do the chores (animal feedings etc) while their neighbor is out of town.

We have alot of breaking ins, car thefts and assaults both in private and public sections.

Ecomony here in this town would be somewhere about 18% since majority of the folks living here are elderly or people nearing retirements. We are facing higher taxes next year because the council wants to build a new high school or refurbished the old ones if they dont have enough money to clear out.

Many folks are on SS, pensions and retirement funds. Young and old are affected. Many of the middle aged citizens had to work two jobs, mostly in fast food sections.

Police staff have been cut back, court staff have been laid off indefinately and Public Aid staff have been deeply cut, thus longer waiting time or strictly by appointment only. No walk ins allowed.

We do have alot more DUI's, suspended licenses, revoked licenses, driving without insurances and cops can only do so much by taking out the worse offenders and let the others go.

Jails are overcrowded and many of them let go early releases because it is too expensive to maintain the staff and prisoners. The jails are spreading pretty thin. Prisoners outnumbered ratio with guards.

The roads are piss poor shape, pot holes galore! No money but just keep filling it up with tar rocks. If the city can not get anymore money, they are thinking about gravel or packed gravel to "save" some time and wait for more money to come in and tear out to the foundation to get better roads. The sewers are horrible too and so outdated. Thus costing more for insurances in our homes because of "possibliity" of flooding with sewer backups in our basements.

Yes, local i think theycall it home invasions now is way up. we used to never lock our house, now we have to lock down everything.The lady that cuts my hair told me the last time I was in there to be sure to chain down the riding lawn mower, and some dumb nut tried to steal our weed eater.and would have if I had not been up since I was sick, just hadn't turned on any lights and guess at 3AM he thought he was safe.shot at thim and missed but glad i did , don't know if i could live with killing someone, even a thief. I just put his name in my prayer box and remind God, You said. vengence was yours, you would repay.I'm sure He can do a better job than I could. marrie

Other than some Dollar Generals being rob in the area, there hasn't been much change. There are a lot of leo's that live in my community, I think that acts as a deterrent. There's also a lot of SAHM's too.

Things are definitely more negative here. I've heard theft it up and people just seem more negative about everything.

I don't see much of a change in my community but I do out in the world....but, of course, I have been noticing this for many years and it has nothing to do with the economy, IMO. I feel it has more to do with prophesy and the end times, but that's just what I read into it.
