Have some questions about ordering eggs

I was wondering if anyone has ordered eggs through the mail so they could incubate them. Which company did you go with? What was the minimum number you ordered? How many of those hatched? I would love to try and hatch my own eggs, but I don't want to go with too many eggs because I only want a couple different types of chickens. My only fear is that I end up with roosters!

In my opinion, the best place to get hatching eggs is right here on BYC. Hatcheries will charge you an arm and a leg for their eggs and they don't really know a lot about the bloodlines of the eggs they sent. There is a Buy-Sale-Trade section just for hatching eggs on BYC. Also, if you don't see what you want, you can post a Wanted ad in the Wanted to Buy section. Also, ask questions before you buy eggs - any reputable seller will be happy to answer any questions you have. Most sellers do require that you have a Paypal account, but some will take a money order. Good luck, and holler if you need any more help.

Have never brought any eggs, but was thinking about it for next year....what kind of chickens do you want?? Are your D'Uccles laying? MIne and laying and setting like it's no tomorrow...

My D'Uccles are not laying yet. They will be 19 weeks old tomorrow, so anytime. I won't be doing this until spring, but I thought I would ask about it now since I always like to plan ahead. I would love to get the Porcelains and the Frizzle Cochins and Buff Brahmas. I have pretty much found a source for every other type of bird I want that I can also get sexed. So, I thought it would alot of fun to hatch the others myself. It is just something I would love to try.
