P.S i am ordering from Welp.

Umm not to burst your bubble but I would call welp to see if what they have availble. Most hatcheries are sold out for the year. I bet welp has very few breeds it is still shipping to new customers.

On the wep site it says they have birds for Jun 8. Its been like that for about a month. They were sold out for may. And its not the wormest out here so i am ok with a little later! LOL

Get great layers. You'll enjoy the eggs.

Red Sex link
Black Sex link
Rhode Island Red
Barred Rock
White Leghorn.

And throw in an EE...

Gotta love those colored eggs.

This is tough, because I think all breeds are great. Well, mostly...I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of silkies, I think they're odd looking..

But anyway! Cochins are sweet, they get big and fluffy and are so cute... Orpingtons also get big and fluffy, and have adorable fluffy butts.....

I know what you mean about getting ones that look cool though, I'm a big fan of the black and white birds, I actually recently bought a mixture of some that will color out all black and white, and look very stunning. My favorites of those are light brahma, silver laced wyandotte, and of course, the barred rock.

It's still so hard to say though! You should tell me what your interested in, and then I can better suggest birds

Cochins are very pretty & cold hardy. Turkens lay giant eggs & are surprisingly cold hardy as well.

We have a big family, too! We wanted some friendly, quieter breeds, that would be fine for cold winters (we're in Minnesota). Here's what we got:

Australorp (they're black, with purple and green highlights in the sun!)
Buff Orpington (goldish (buff) – very fluffy and cute!)
Plymouth Rock (Barred variety) (they look quite cool with their black and white bars)

We also got two Sex-Link strains (Black, and Gold), on the recommendation of the hatchery. Apparently they lay very well, and even lay through the winter! I'm not sure how nice they're supposed to be, but I don't think they're especially mean.

Maybe someone more experienced with Sex-Links can tell you more about them!

Have fun with your chicks!

They're absolutely adorable when they're little! They're not so bad when they're a little older, either!
