Chicken Girl
P.S I am sick of the white ion my yard! LOL I NEED some collor!

you would want a gentle breed. Cochins, Orpintons, Polishs, Welsummers, Easter Eggers, Phoenixs, Ausralorps, Wyandottes, chickens like that would be great for the family. :]

A chicken that likes to be held, well My cochins and silkies love to be held. My polish were to jumpy for me, had to sell them. I just hatched some light Brahma's, I just think they are pretty birds. I also think anything with lacing or penciled feathers would be nice, pretty to look at. I agree with the EE vote also, they are so many different colors and the blue green eggs are a bonus. My EE loves to be held, but then again she stayed in the house for 3 months since she hatched by herself on Jan 1st and it was to cold in my mind for her to go outside.

My polish girls have been the friendliest that I've had... We currently have EE chicks, a splash silkie chick, and a leghorn cockerel. Full grown we have polish, a salmon Favorelle, and black australorps. The polish are very silly to watch, and they are right there with me when I'm outside. The Australorps come running, but are more evasive, and the Salmon Fav is just a goofy silly bird! She has a nice nature to her and also comes when called. She is also quite pretty, but the polish are definitely my favorite!! Have fun!!!!!!

phoenixs are the ones with the long talls right? I thought they were mean? lol And we did have a buff cochin hen and she would rather be with me then with the other chickens! The last time she hung out with us was when we were puting up the Cristmas lights in the front yard. I went and got her out of the pen and she folowed me all the way up the yard. She died in Jan. I dont know y. I love cochins. And the silkes i want to get one. them leghorns man they are mean. LOL My roo keeps trying to take off my leg. I dont know y. He like just got a hair up his but with my i gess. And i just ceep geting him back for it but now he is geting when i am not looking! LOL I dont whant to kill him thought. Have any of you orderd from welp?

My salmon faverolles are really nice birds - they're about 8 weeks, and even though I've only had them for two weeks, they're OK with being picked up and cuddled - wyandottes are a good option too - I have SLW and GLW - they're both pretty friendly. You also can't go wrong with BO or BR...

Since you are so far North I would get some wyandottes. they are great winter layers and you can use them for meat. Plus they are total knockouts in person. Love the gold laced ones they are beautiful you cant go wrong there.

Cochin Bantams are very sweet and so adorable as chicks and adults too! They have fluffy little round bods with feathers on their feet! I guess you could say I'm partial to these fluffy butts!
