Have you ever bartered for eggs??

I trade our eggs for hay for the goats. It works out because we don't have to buy hay all winter long.

I traded 3 chicks for 18 hatching eggs once. I also have "split" hatches with folks where they give me the eggs to incubate for free and I give them 1/3 of the live chicks that hatch. Traded a rooster for an LG incubator once...

Even if she can't use a dozen a week or more, she could probably find a family member or friend who'd be willing to buy them off of her. I think bartering is a great idea. I'm a hairdresser and we were always bartering services with people!

I agree with DR77! I think it's great that we are getting back to a simpler, more natural way of life where things came out even and wasn't all about money. People used to barter for everything back in the day. I think you should give more than 1 dozen a week, bake or give more eggs and she can be praised by her family and friends for giving then fresh eggs. They will love her and she will feel really good about helping you out. If she has little kids, maybe even let her kids come over and collect them a few times, that might be fun for them! Have them over for dinner some time as a big thank you, people like that! So I think it's great, good luck!

I love to barter - I love the idea of it, and it's just fun. So far I have bartered my eggs for a scarf, mangos, fresh basil, and egg cartons. I've also given them to people who have done me favors, just as a "Thank you".

I think its a great idea! You could offer her more eggs, and see if she wants them. If not, you could always 'surprise her' with extras like someone else had said, just to show your appreciation. That is such a nice thing for her to do!

Nope..very young couple; no kids...
he is a CPA and is on the road some...she is an intern at the church right now..but she will be going back
to school I think in the fall...

But she's odd in a great sense of the word...she's different..she thinks differently than a lot of ppl...
she is early 20's and she is already planning her birth (no not even pg lol) midwife, homebirth etc..
she is all for the eggs not being washed/refrigerated etc..thinks the idea of the "bloom" is neat...
and for her quirky side..she likes cats, not dogs and wears a bell cat collar as a necklace sometimes...

lol..she's funky!
