Have you ever been in the coop after dark???

It is not a quiet place! I was in there tonight, I think a few of them snore too! They all make little sounds when they are sleeping, it is very sweet!

I like going in the coop at night, I have some skittish girls so when they are sleeping is the time when I can pet them and take a good look to make sure they physically look ok. Just check on everyone in general. I love the little sleeping sounds they make too....

Yup all the time. Sometimes I don't get out there to collect eggs and refill feeders until after dark. Other times I go out late specifically to check on someone or look them over for lice. They aren't quiet lol
I used to swear my RIR roo never slept. He always seemed awake and on watch whenever I would go out. I think twice I went out he was in a deep sleep, but that was rare for him. If I go out and "excite" them on a full-moon night some of the girls will get down and walk around and eat pellets like it's going out of style, and then wander back to their roost after about 5-10min. They are used to my late night visits.

My actual coop is the size of a large doghouse but I do open the back hatch after the girls are in for the night and pet each of them. They are a little chirpy bunch even when they are going to sleep. I never thought I'd love a chicken. Now I love three.

I've had chickens sleep in my room (

it was for emergency purposes) and I don't remember them making any sort of sounds. . . ?

I've gotta go into the coop sometime late at night. The times I have though, the only sounds made are from the girls awakening to my presence.

Mine do NOT like for you to go into the coop late at night. It will cause all kinds of "ruckus"

but then again, with 5 roosters....the stress level is a little high on the guardianship side
