Have you ever gotten stuck in the coop?

This thread is making me giggle. I really needed it today.

I have never been stuck in the coop, but my son who is 7 has. He went to get eggs, and the door shut and latched just enough that he couldn't open it. After about 10 minutes of him not coming back in, I went to go see what he was up to. I opened the back door and could hear screaming. I went running to the coop and the poor kid was just standing there bawling. I felt so bad that I hadn't checked earlier. I did giggle a little, because it was kind of funny, but I felt bad to.

One time i got locked in the coop by my sister. I went in to fill up the feed container and when i turned aroung the door was shut. I stood in there for 2 hours waiting tor my parents to get home looking out the coop window.

Hahahahaha yes back in June! I heard thunder and saw lightening, which is strange for us, so I went running out to the coop to check on the girls and as soon as I got there, it started pouring and hailing and the wind was so strong I couldn't keep the door shut on the coop. My kids were calling me to come pick them up from school but I couldn't leave

Ohhh, yeah.

In January, I took warm vaseline down to the coop for the girls' combs. I hooked the door on the inside to keep the little bit of heat in. When I finished, I couldn't get the dang hook undone.

I had to use the handle of my trowel-cum-pooper scooper to hammer the hook up, but it was better than waiting 6 hrs for DH to come home from work and MAYBE wade through the thigh-high snow to find me.

YES I have been locked in the coop!

I wansn't ever going to tell anyone about this but since you asked here goes. My hen had just hatched chicks and one am I went down to see them in the coop. My 11 yr old son was home sick from school and my husband (who by the way goes down every night to lock the run and coop) came down to say he was leaving for work. When he shut the coop door he by habit locked it. I stayed down about another 1/2 hr and got up to leave. THE DOOR WAS LOCKED, I couldn't believe it. My husband is a general contractor and a classic overbuilder so to say our coop is really safe for the chickens is an understatement. All the windows are covered 2x's with hardware cloth and the door is doubled locked. I tried bustinbg through the wood, hardwarecloth, and even tried climbing through the pop door(to small).

We live on 30 acres and when my son couldn't find me he called my mom and she told him I was either at the stable or the coop and not to worry. I was locked in the coop for 4 1/2 hours until my husband came home. He got out of his truck and heard me yelling help. As he walked down to the coop I could hear him laughing and he said "how did you do that to yourself" what I said next I can't post because this it a family forum.

He said he came home because he had a feeling he had forgotten something. We had a dinner party that same night and what a great story, all of our friens were falling out of their chairs laughing.

our coop is only 8x9 and all 9 chickens were in there with me. Do you know chickens are never quiet! I know if I ever jail I don't want a chicken as a cell mate

I've never been locked in my coop, but I'm sure my DH would love to catch me in there, latch the door and sneak away.
