a chicken to start laying eggs and still get on a roost? Just curious how many bombs hens have laid befor finding the nesting boxes.

I personally have never had this that I know about, but then again I can not watch the girls all day long.

Mine have been making nests in the corner under their roost. I guess my brother actually found an egg in one of the nest boxes, but I never have. So far I've found them buried in the litter, sitting on the litter, and rolled into a corner. My girls are doing good, though....They started laying on Wednesday (5 days ago) and from wednesday till yesterday I've gotten 9 eggs out of only 4 hens that could be laying. That makes me happy!!! LOL!!!

Ok, never had that happen but here's a weird one. We were hunting chukar in a planted bird field (dog training) We shot one that was up 15 feet after we flushed it and when it hit the ground and the dog retrieved and brought it to us, we turned it over to check for tooth damage (none, good dog) but we discovered an egg half way out...was it about to lay? or did we scare the *bleep* out of it?
